Off The Grid
The flatness of the Great Plains has made me adjust my compass. On the West Coast, I relied on my relationship to the water and the hills to tell which direction I was going. Here, I rely on the streets, which for the most part run in cardinal directions due to the lack of topography. This piece utilizes beads made from Elmer’s glue and pen and ink to honor the peculiarity of the Red River, the only topographically dictated border of the state.
