Swelter
Although I've lived here for a decade, Oklahoma summers still punish me. Nothing about growing up in Washington, Alaska, and Northern California prepared me for the Oklahoma heat or its physiological effects.
"Swelter" is an attempt to symbolically express this. In it, I draw parallels between my chosen art materials and the "flesh and bone" of my anatomy. Creating these materials was ritualistic and repetitive and meant to convey a sense of the endurance it takes me to slither through the sweaty summers of my adopted home.
